Take a look here: http://www.pipecrafter.com/pipes/cityman/calabash1.php It's sold already, as I undertook it as a comission piece, but you should expect to see more of these, as it was a real blast to carve. -- Kurt Huhn pipecrafter at pipecrafter.com http://www.pipecrafter.com From pipecrafter at pipecrafter.com Mon Mar 20 21:41:00 2006 From: pipecrafter at pipecrafter.com (Kurt Huhn) Date: Mon, 20 Mar 2006 21:41:00 -0500 Subject: [Pipe-announce] testing Message-ID: <441F67BC.5070302@pipecrafter.com> Good evening all, just testing some config changes. -- Kurt Huhn pipecrafter at pipecrafter.com http://www.pipecrafter.com From pipecrafter at pipecrafter.com Fri Mar 24 20:11:37 2006 From: pipecrafter at pipecrafter.com (Kurt Huhn) Date: Fri, 24 Mar 2006 20:11:37 -0500 Subject: [Pipe-announce] two new billiards, one sold Message-ID: <442498C9.4070303@pipecrafter.com> Today I've got a couple chubby billiards. These were done in response to a request for an interpretation of the Savinelli 101. I made two, and let the customer choose. #20 was the chosen pipe, but #19 is still available. You'll see more of these, in all sorts of finishes, because I really enjoyed working with this shape. You'll probably see a 1/4 or 1/2 bent version by the end of the weekend as well. I threw a quick drawing together, and it looked so good, that I immediately transfered it to a block of briar. #19 is here: http://www.pipecrafter.com/pipes/cityman/billiard19.php And #20 is here: http://www.pipecrafter.com/pipes/cityman/billiard20.php -- Kurt Huhn pipecrafter at pipecrafter.com http://www.pipecrafter.com From pipecrafter at pipecrafter.com Sun Mar 26 22:18:06 2006 From: pipecrafter at pipecrafter.com (Kurt Huhn) Date: Sun, 26 Mar 2006 22:18:06 -0500 Subject: [Pipe-announce] A new shape, but not available yet Message-ID: <4427596E.6070504@pipecrafter.com> I was looking at the pipes I posted a couple days ago and starting thinking about what those proportions might look like in a bent pipe. I sketched out a quick drawing and it looked so good that I had to make a pipe from it. I've had this Spanish briar hanging around for years, and it's only now hitting the right moisture level for carving. However, before making a pipe from it for a customer, it's got to be smoked to see if it's decent stuff. I figured, what a better test vehicle than a new shape I wanted to make. http://www.pipecrafter.com/pipeimages/billiard21.jpg http://www.pipecrafter.com/pipeimages/billiard21-alt1.jpg http://www.pipecrafter.com/pipeimages/billiard21-alt2.jpg http://www.pipecrafter.com/pipeimages/billiard21-alt3.jpg If nothing else, the Spanish briar blasts fairly well. At least the blast pattern was more interesting than the grain striation. It's a short one, at only 4.75" long, but it just seemed to fit all together better in that length. Let me know what you think. -- Kurt Huhn pipecrafter at pipecrafter.com http://www.pipecrafter.com
