Danish Dublin
Price: $325

Sometimes the problem with being a maker of handmade pipes is naming them. This pipe, for instance, is clearly unclear. The bowl is dublin-esque, while it doesn't adhere to traditional "catalog" descriptions of the dublin shape. I started out meaning to inject a little of my own flavor, which tends to lean a little to Danish and German influences, and this is what came off the belt grinder. I really like the gentle bend of the stem, and the robust proportions of the bowl. I also added a little accent to the stem made of "alternative horn", a bit of material that's cast to look exactly like good horn that's seemingly unavailable in the U.S. right now.

On this particular pipe, I've left the bowl uncoated. I usually coat these, but I've broken with procedure on this one, and will leave that choice up to the customer. I won't be making a habit of this for pipes that are not special orders, however.

And now the full disclosure: this pipe was damn near a Nobleman. However there are a couple pinprick flaws on the very heel of the bowl that are barely visible. That said, they are barely visisble, and even at that, only if yo're looking for them.
