I've been wanting to do a pipe like this for a while, and finally managed to catch enough of a break between pumping out the special requests to get this one made. Following some advice I got at a recent Sherlock Holmes Pipe Club meeting, I made this one a size significantly larger than what I usually do, and I think it turned out really well. As you can see below, this pipe has a very generous tobacco chamber, and some nice thick walls. Smoking flakes in this pipe would be an interesting undertaking. I left the bit a tad thicker than I usually make them in order to help support the weight of the pipe, but it's still emminently clenchable, and very comfortable. And even thought the grain didn't allow for a smooth pipe, the blast turned out really well, so I decided to leave it natural and unstained.
