I haven't done a sandblast in quite a while, and while some folks find sandblasting to painful and tedious, I actually enjoy it. I find that it's relaxing, peaceful, and a chance for me to reflect on things while massaging a piece into a final product. So when this pipe displayed a couple flaws too big to hide with a contrast stain, I jumped at the chance to put it under the blasting gun. But I'm not the only one that benefits from time in the sandblasting shed, clearly this pipe took a lot away from the experience as well. This is a great blast, and reflects a natural evolution in my skills in this arena.

This is one of the deeper blasts that I've accomplished, and while I owe some of it to the wood, I'd like to think that all of my experimentation over the past 4 years accounts for something of the finished product. Unlike the sandblasting treatment that I give the Countryman Line this is a multi-stage approach and involves two different guns, two different media canisters, and a lot of patience. The results really speak for themselves though, so all the effort is completely worth it for me. You can also see that I've left the bowl rim smooth so that it's easier to keep tidy.

I was going to add a stem ring or shank adornment to this pipe, but if you ask me, it really doesn't need it. I wouldn't want anything to detract from the sandblast or simple elegance of this pipe. This is also a nice, generously sized pipe. Tobaccos like Krumble Kake would be great in this pipe, and if you smoke flakes you might only need to fill it once per day.
