This is a GIANT pipe. It's eleven inches long, with most of that length being made of bamboo. Four, count them, knuckles on this pipe's bamboo shank, and the bamboo itself is half an inch or wider in spots. This is what happens when a pipe maker looks for inspiration in a big bag of big bamboo - you get a big pipe. Now, granted, the tobacco chamber isn't humongous, and the proportions are more churchwarden than anything, but have you ever seen a shurchwarden stem like that? Well maybe you have, but even if you have, you have to admit, it's unusually large.
What's in a name? Well, one of my favorite movie genres are japanese monster movies - Godzilla, Rodan, etc. The stars of those movies are the monsters, or "kaiju" in Japanese. It seemed fitting to name a big pipe with a bamboo shank after another Asian giant.
