Lovat 3
Price: $225
I've been hitting a great streak of pipes that needed to be finished smooth, which is great in some respects, and not so much in others.
I actually enjoy sandblasting, and it's my personal finish of choice for when I make a pipe for myself or (rarely) buy one from another artisan.
So when this pipe came around with a grain that kilted off to one side, I jumped at the opportunity to blaste it.
Finishing off this comfortable lovat is a stem hand cut from some green swirl ebonite that I got over a year ago but never used until now.
I was in a good mood for Spring, having spent the last few days tending garden, and I thought the green stem would be a great addition. And, of course, the stain is green as well - but the electric green that you find all to often on pipes these days. This green is super dark, and mixed with black in layers, so the result is mostly a dark pipe with hints of green peaking out around the corners. As a package, it all goes very well together.
