Nosewarmer Volcano 2
Price: $265
It's really no secret that I just love a short pipe of robust proportions. My personal pipe rotation is full of
nosewarmers, chubbys, and other comfortably short pipes. And so it figures that I also love making short pipes as well.
It's a very enjoyable process, and it's a great exercise of skill as well. Since there's less pipe, mistakes in proportion or execution
can jump out and become very obvious, and so you've got to be sure and get every detail just right.
This volcano is probably one of my favorite pipes to come out of the workshop recently. Despite being a shorter pipe, it has
very generously sized tobacco chamber, and it's still got good heft to it. And, because of the shape and size, the pipe is supremely comfortable
to hold, and just falls naturally into your hand. If you've got large hands like mine, folks may not even notice you're holding a pipe until you
raise it to your mouth.
Also in my favorites corner is the sandblast finish. This pipe has a really nicely detailed blast that, on this pipe,
is reminiscent of layers of cooled igneous rock deposited over successive eruptions. And what other choice is there for a stem on a volcano than
red swirled ebonite?
