Racerfish One
Price: $245

Racerfish One, you are cleared for takeoff. And please don't buzz the tower AGAIN!

So named because the pipe looks like it's going a hundred miles per hour just sitting on my desk, this pipe started as an idle doodle in my sketchbook. Something about that doodle caught my eye, however, and I picked up my pencil and fleshed out the rest of the pipe, just going with the flow the entire way. I stopped to call a customer back while I digested the various lines and curves, and while I was talking I had serendipitous moment where I mumbled something about a rhodesian and not being sure what I was going to make today. As soon as I was off the phone, I was back into the sketch, and finished the drawing while throwing down graphite onto paper like a madman.

In stark contrast to the Chunkyfish of a few days ago, this pipe is long and lithe. Definitely not chunky, this pipe is lean and shapely with complex curves and flowing lines that generate tons of movement. Everything, including the hand cut stem, was shaped to help convey a sense of speed. And to compliment the awesome shape, the briar cooperated extremely well during sandblasting, producing a wonderfully deep and interesting finish..
