Stout2
Price: $225
Every once in a while I get a hankering to make a large pipe. This isn't the most enourmous I've made, but it's certainly larger than what I've been turning out recently. It's a pipe for big guys, or at least for guys who like big pipes. You'd need to be a stout fellow to clench it too, and hence the name. Of course, I made the bit slightly thicker just in case you do decide to clench it - and I know you're going to try it at least once.
That stem accent ring is an interesting material that I bought a while back on a whim. It's bamboo, but it's like bamboo flooring instead of the normal bamboo stems and shanks you see on pipes these days. This stuff is bamboo strips, all layed out in the same orientation, then heated and fused under pressure. In it's 'natural' state it's quite attractive, and I can't wait to play with staining it to see how it reacts. But on this pipe, I wanted to use it as a light contrast ring between the stem and bowl to give an added element to the pipe.
