Morta Prince 1
Price: $245
It's been a very long time since I made a pipe out of something but briar. Not too long ago I was contacted by somone with a ready supply of Morta, asking if I was interested in getting a couple pieces - and of course, I jumped at the chance! I got a couple blocks, made a couple tester pipes, a pencil, and a couple other things - then bought up as much of his supply as I could afford. The wife doesn't actually know how much I spent, and with luck, she won't. Suffice to say, I bought enough to keep us all in Morta pipes for a while - well, depending on how much demand there is for these.
This is the first Morta pipe I'm offering for sale. These are, by necessity, on the petite side. Flaw free Morta is tough to come by, and even though I managed to get some very high quality wood, it's necessary to make them small due to the nature of the material.
This is a cross between an author and prince shape, and is a little tough to classify. On any other pipe, this stem and shank would be rather small - but on this pipe, it seems almost oversized. Since the wood dictates the final shape, this may become a regular catalog shape - or not. It actually remains to be seen.
