Morta Tomato

Started as a somewhat vague request from a customer, this pipe grew from a series of drawings to what you see here. It has been hewn from an absolutely HUGE piece of morta then sandblasted to bring out the unique and extremely rare texure of morta. This pipe is fully bent, and yet still manages to pass a pipe cleaner all the way to the bowl - though with a bit of cajoling.
This pipe incorporates Morta, Mammoth Ivory, and Nickel Silver. Why is that significant? Morta. also known as bog oak, is an oak tree that fell into a bog or swamp some ten thousand years ago or so and has since become partially fossilized. At the same time, mammoths were roaming the earth, one of the largest land mammals and undistputed king of the plains. And still more, asteroid impacts were very common in that time period, offering a great abundance of nickel to the Earth's already rich mineral reserves. Three materials, with very different backgrounds, and yet a common history and time period. Thousands of years later they all come together into one object that pays tribute to all of them.
