This is easily the cleanest piece of briar I've ever shaped. Only one tiny flaw appeared, and I easily worked around it to create an absolutely flawless pipe. It's interesting, however, that I managed a perfect finish on this pipe. I was really interested in sandblasting the rear of the bowl to get a get a very distinct difference in texture which I thought would add to the "toothy" feel. But, when I uncovered all that wonderful grain pattern, it simply wasn't going to happen. Maybe on a similar pipe in the future.

This pipe was also a pleasure to shape. I've never done anything like this before, which the exception of the rare Elephant's Foot - but those curve the other direction, typically. I'm also really liking the new stem materials that I've found - though in this case it's a shank material. The synthetic horn is simply wonderful. It's an extreme pleasure to work with, and looks like a million bucks. This pipe is also exceedingly comfortable despite it's large length, and could easily be clenched while relaxing and reading or watching the tube.
